EVENTS

The Office of Multicultural Programs and Services provides a wide breadth of exciting and culturally enriching events for the FIU and South Florida community. We pride ourselves on the high level of execution, professionalism and exciting programs that we offer to our patrons.

MPAS Workshops

MPAS offers many workshops per semester in three workshop series, S.T.A.R.S. (Students Taking Advantages of Resources Successfully), V.E.O. (Valuing Each Other), and the L.G.B.T. (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered) workshops. All workshops are open to the entire FIU student body and are available at both the University Park and Biscayne Bay Campus. We work collaboratively with CSO(Council of Student Organizations) to award the student organizations that attend the STARS & VEO workshops points in accordance with the CSO points structure.

SAGE Silent Auction & Scholarship

The S.A.G.E. (Students Awarding Global Excellence) scholarship is funded by our S.A.G.E. Silent Auction. MPAS hosts the S.A.G.E. Silent Auction as a fundraising event that raises money for transfer and international FIU students that is distributed through the S.A.G.E. scholarship. The S.A.G.E. Silent Auction is a wonderful event that is chuck full of bargains donated by area businesses and the money that is raised goes to help students right here at FIU.

Excellence Awards

This is an annual event that is held for MPAS scholarship students that are academically performing above and beyond their respective scholarships strenuous requirements. This ceremony is a way for our students to allow family and friends on campus to build some great experiences.

LGBT Events

MPAS has many events and programming geared to our L.G.B.T. community, such as workshops, lectures, Coming Out Day, and Safe Zone trainings.

MLK Commemorative Celebration

MPAS has many events during the week-long celebration of the life and vision of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Clubs & Organizations

MPAS staff members advise many student organizations, such as the Black Student Union (B.S.U), National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (N.A.A.C.P.), Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated (A.K.A), Men Achieving Leadership, Excellence & Service (M.A.L.E.S), Spread The Word Spoken Word Club, On Point Poetry, and more.
